International Tech Talent in Finland Research Report 2025
To remain competitive and economically resilient, Finland must attract and retain international talent. This research set out to understand what drives international professionals to choose Finland and whether their expectations match the reality of living and working here.
Over 300 international tech professionals responded to our survey, sharing candid insights about their motivations, workplace values, and experiences with integration.
This year we also expanded our focus: we asked about pay, measured Finland’s NPS, and heard directly from families making the move.
What we found is a mix of optimism and friction. Finland continues to earn high praise for its quality of life, safety, and work-life balance, key reasons why nearly 70% of respondents see themselves staying in Finland over the next five years. The country is also recognised for the blooming tech sector and nature-first lifestyle.
However, the reality doesn’t always match the promise. Nearly 40% of respondents have experienced discrimination, often during the hiring process. Over 50% either didn’t consider or didn’t know whether their salary was competitive, a signal of unclear or inequitable compensation structures.
Finland has a strong foundation, but there is still work to do to ensure that workplace realities align with expectations. This means building inclusive cultures, communicating transparently, and creating systems that support fair and meaningful work experiences for international professionals.
